Mud, Smiles, and Mechanicals: Our Weekend at the Dirty Downhill 2025
Share
The forecast for Port Angeles, Washington, delivered on its promise. Rolling into the Dry Hill venue for the two-day Dirty Downhill—a fantastic, supportive event put on by the Sturdy Dirty Enduro and NW Cup—we were immediately met with that classic, soaking Northwest drizzle.
The Good Times Tent
Day one of practice was decidedly damp, but under the drumming rhythm of the rain on our tent, the vibe was pure celebration. This event is a jewel in the calendar because it strips away the high-pressure intensity of bigger races. It’s a space dedicated to women riders—from the absolute beginner to the seasoned veteran—where you can genuinely dip a toe into racing without feeling the pressure to perform.
The shuttle truck runs were full of loud laughter and riders in brilliant costumes. It was a carnival of two-wheeled fun!
Our Moon Gravity Racing pit quickly became the go-to spot for bike prep and good-natured troubleshooting. With so many riders trying out racing for the first time, we were thrilled to lend a hand. Our mission wasn't to shave tenths of a second off a World Cup run; it was to eliminate the small headaches that stand between a racer and a great time. We helped set up suspension to be more plush, squashed annoying rattles, adjusted cockpits for better comfort, and generally ensured every bike was running safely and smoothly. It’s this focus on supporting the grassroots experience that drives everything we do at MGR. We want riders to focus on the terrain and the fun, not on faulty gear.
Smiles in the "Hero Dirt"
Sunday delivered the ultimate gift: the rain backed off, and the legendary Dry Hill soil transformed into "hero dirt." It was tacky, fast, and supportive—the kind of dirt that lets everyone push their limits with confidence and a grin, turning potential slips into controlled slides.
The finish area became a hub of pure, unbridled energy. Every single rider was greeted with genuine cheers as they crossed the line. Whether they were celebrating a personal best or laughing off a minor tumble, the atmosphere was defined by high-fives, hugs, and big, shared smiles.
We were especially stoked to see our rider, Amanda Senatore (imaged below on the left), land a spot on the unorthodox five-deep podium in CAT 2. It was her first time in the upper category and watching her grow and simply enjoy the challenge was the real win for us.
Engineering for Enjoyment: The Single Crown Prototype
Amanda was running our newest development: the Moon Gravity Racing Single Crown Race Plate Prototype.
Built on the same philosophy of rugged reliability as our popular Dual Crown design, this new plate offers a rock-solid, bolted connection for your race number while clamping securely onto your handlebars. We develop our components to be the best in class because when your gear is flawless, you can focus 100% on the ride. More information on this plate will be coming out VERY soon.
The Dirty Downhill weekend perfectly showcased why we pour our experience and passion into Moon Gravity Racing. We're not just selling components; we're providing the equipment and support that keeps the stoke high and the good times rolling. We’re proud to be part of this incredible community!
